Bilateral Pleomorphic Adenomas Of The Parotid Glands: Discussion Over Two Cases
نویسندگان
چکیده
The occurrence of multiple distinct tumors in major salivary glands is quite rare. Although the most common tumor with bilateral synchronous or metachronous development is the Warthin's tumor, pleomorphic adenomas have been very rarely diagnosed simultaneously as well. The authors report two consecutive cases of patients with bilateral pleomorphic adenomas of the parotid glands discussing clinical features, diagnostic challenges and therapeutic options.

Synchronous Parotid and Homolateral Submandibular Gland Pleomorphic Adenoma
Introduction: Pleomorphic adenomas are benign neoplasms of salivary glands. The simultaneous homolateral occurrence of these tumors in salivary glands is exceedingly rare. Case Report: An adult female presenting to our OPD with the swelling of right-sided preauricular and submandibular regions was diagnosed with the pleomorphic adenoma based on fine needle aspiration c...

A case of simultaneous, bilateral pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid glands following irradiation to the head and neck for childhood Hodgkin's disease is presented. The tumour on the side given the highest radiation exposure contained so-called tyrosine rich crystalloids (TRCs). Simultaneous salivary gland neoplasms are rare; TRCs are also an unusual finding. Simultaneous pleomorphic adenomas w...
متن کاملParotid pleomorphic adenomas: delayed CT enhancement.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Weak or absent CT enhancement in pleomorphic adenomas of the parotid gland has been observed immediately after i.v. contrast administration. This feature can result in poor lesion conspicuity relative to both normal parotid tissue and other parotid abnormalities. The purpose of this study was to document the delayed CT enhancement characteristics of parotid pleomorphic ad...

The most common sites of pleomorphic adenoma of the minor salivary glands are the palates followed by lips and cheeks. Other rare sites include the throat, floor of the mouth, tongue, tonsil, pharynx, ret...

Objective/background. This is a case presentation of a primary multifocal monomorphic and pleomorphic adenoma, with possible association with myotonic dystrophy. Methods/presentation. The patient was a 36-year old woman with myotonic dystrophy with multiple left parotid masses. Biopsy and final pathology demonstrated discrete de novo pleomorphic and monomorphic adenomas. Conclusions/impact. The...
